Meet Dr. Desai

Dr. Desai attended North Carolina State University where he earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences in 2002. He then attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (Salus University) and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2006. He performed externships at The Eye Institute of Philadelphia which included specialty training at the internationally renowned William Feinbloom Low Vision Center and Thomas Lynch Pediatric Clinic. 

Dr. Desai has received honors for his work in Low Vision during his clinical externship. He also gained extensive knowledge in the field of optometry in externships with Digby Eye Associates in Greensboro, NC and John H. Lee, OD and Associates in Willow Grove, PA. He also completed a rotation at the W.G. Hefner Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. At the VA hospital, he trained for 6 months and focused primarily on ocular disease management. 

Dr. Desai specializes in primary care optometry including diagnosis, treatment, and co-management of ocular eye disease. He is also specialized in the fitting of contact lenses which include astigmatism, multi-focal and gas permeable (hard) varieties.

Dr. Desai has certification from the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and has been in practice since 2006. He began his career with an ophthalmology practice in Greenfield, MA in 2006. He returned home to his native North Carolina in 2008 and has been practicing there ever since. He is a member of the Winston-Salem Optometric Society.  

Dr. Desai has been married for eleven years and enjoys spending time with his family as he is a proud father of his 6 year old son and 2 year old daughter. He also enjoys playing golf and tennis in his free time.
